Our Family Meal Plan for this week 21/10/2013- £54

** Sponsored Post **

It is a particularly busy week this week, not that our weeks are ever not busy!  I'm working different shifts as I will hopefully be travelling to Bradford on Friday for the day, I'm in London one day this week, there are 2 evening school related meetings to go to along with the usual day to day goings on in our household.

Breakfasts will be porridge with homemade fruit compote. School lunches will be cheese and homemade chutney or egg salad sandwiches with crudites and herby yoghurt dip, a piece of fruit and a small baked treat.  Weekend lunches will be Toasted Sandwiches and Twice Baked Potatoes.

As a treat, and because I was able to purchase a free range chicken in the discounted produce section for £3, we'll be having a roast to start the week.  It will then be used in a couple of other meals throughout the week.  I have included the usual price I pay for a free range chicken in the Shopping List rather than the discounted price.

I normally make my own Yorkshire puddings but I must confess to sometimes using Aunt Bessies ones if we are in a real hurry or I'm just too tired to faff.  I had a good giggle at this video from Aunt Bessies so I thought I would share it with you.  Hopefully we won't have anyone looking over our back fence at me preparing dinner, on a Monday evening I am really not up to public viewing! ;op

Dinners

Homemade Fish and Chips (perfect for munching on whilst we watch Strictly)

I compared the cost of my shopping, as usual and our groceries which cost £51.64 would've cost £57.43 from Tesco and £61.20 from Sainsburys.

  2. Just realised that your list never incorporates drinks, which are a sizeable portion of my bill. What sort of things do you all drink? We go for fruit juice for kids (watered down for the younger ones) as well as tea and coffee for us.

    1. I don't usually include drinks because everyone would have their own preference so just include food shopping list with blogged Meal Plan. I'm a coffee addict, hubby has hot chocolate or homemade cordial, we drink a lot of have water and kids have milk, water or watered down homemade cordial. Once the homemade cordial runs out we usually buy some.

  3. I am in awe of you sticking to this. I simply don't have the discipline and wander to the fish and chip shop on days like today when I've had no lunch but a day full of meetings
